2009 Second Quarter Report
Dear Brethren,

I greet you in the name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. I pray that God will manifest His richest blessings in your lives and ministries.

Again I can say that God has been very good to us. He has strengthened my wife and me physically as well as spiritually. We praise Him and will continue to praise Him for His gracious gifts and presence in our lives. As so many of you already know my wife has gone through several interventions on her back; the last one was just this past June. Also it has been over a year since my cardiac problems when the doctors implanted a pacemaker/diffibulator in me. I am feeling much better now even though I still have to be careful. My wife is also better, though she has lost some physical capabilities. We both strive to serve our Lord to the utmost of our capabilities.

I want to begin by again thanking the Lord and all of you for your support by praying for us. We know that our Lord burdens your hearts causing you to remember us before His throne of grace and you are faithful in remembering us. Our Lord knows how much we truly need all of you standing before Him interceding on our behalf. I want to also thank the Lord for our daughter, Dámaris, who has been such a great help to us.

In the village of Agua Caliente God has sustained Sovereign Grace Baptist Church. God is blessing us by bringing new people to visit and listen to the preaching of His Word. Marta Castillo, who is one of the neighbors close by, came everyday to the preaching services during our past conference (May 27-31st). She had come before at the beginning of the women’s Bible study in the village but has always left off coming after attending the first time. She is seeking the Lord now but with particular spiritual difficulties. False teachers in the past have led some to wait to experience “fireworks” or some immense feeling. Please remember her as the Lord burdens you to pray. We also had another woman visit during conference. Her name is Ofelia Corredor. She would usually only visit us when the church held special meetings such as Mother’s Day or Christmas etc… but she came to every conference service. We believe she was encouraged to come because of the house to house visit/invitation that was given out at the beginning of the conference. Please also pray for a man named Eliseo Quezada. He is a young man who is building his house near our property. This past Sunday (July 12th) he visited us for the preaching services. He has expressed to the brethren a desire to change and stop drinking. We know and believe that the Lord is sovereign in saving the lost souls here in Agua Caliente. Yet we have so many who attend services that listen week after week to the preaching of His Word and yet show no inward work of His Spirit in salvation. We pray that He will in His time and in His way save each one.

The Lord was pleased to bring Bro. Danny Roten and Bro. Joe Ortega as our conference preachers. I asked them to share from the O. T. text on Isa.9: 6, the names of our Lord. We were blessed by the messages given. This year was different from other years. Usually we have many daily conference visitors from other churches in the surrounding towns. This year even though we invited them all no one came. Yet, the Lord was pleased to bring from the villages so many more. We had a very good group attending everyday to the place where on Sunday when we had a fellowship meal we fed the same amount of people as if the other churches had attended. Bro. Kyle White also brought 2 young men to do some manual labor during the conference, which we really appreciate. We thank the Lord that Community Baptist Church has always supported us and the work here in Mexico where the Lord has placed us to testify of His saving grace to men. May the Lord bless each and every one of those who came from so far to bless us. The Lord is so good.

I would like to also thank all of you for praying about another 4x4 vehicle. We had to change our plans a couple of times because of government law changes but after several months we were finally able to replace the old one with a more modern model. We now have a ’97 Ford F150. It is a good vehicle. I am now able to go into other villages and bring the people as before. When I didn’t have it some of the villagers would come walking over the mountains approximately 2-2 ½ miles to services. But there were some because of illnesses or disabilities who couldn’t come. With this “new” vehicle I am now able to drive without difficulties because of my heart problems. We praise the Lord for this blessing. To God be the glory.

At Guerrero City, where the Lord permits me to preach every Sunday afternoon to four faithful families, every so often we have visitors. Bro. Julio Gonzalez continues with his intentions of preparing himself to minister there. It hasn’t been easy for him to find the necessary time to completely dedicate himself to this. This was mainly because of his wife’s cancer that kept him occupied traveling back and forth for her treatments and attending to her. She has now finished all treatments and won’t need radiation, so this now frees him up somewhat while she recuperates. Lord willing we will now be able to dedicate more time to his preparation.

In Cuauhtémoc, where we go every week for supplies and Internet communications, my wife continues to have a weekly women’s Bible Study. We praise the Lord another young married woman has begun to attend. We praise the Lord that wherever we are He deems to use us for His honor and glory. As His servants we share His Word trusting that He will do a work in the hearts of people.

We also would like to publicly thank Sherwood Baptist Church for the love they have shown to us. In June the house in Cuauhtémoc was broken into and robbed. One of the things that the thieves took was the computer we used to communicate via internet. Upon learning of this loss, the brethren blessed us with money to help buy another one. Another Brother in Christ also helped to make up the difference so we could get a really nice laptop. We praise the Lord for His goodness and in supplying our every need!

I thank the Lord for each and every one of you. Also we glorify Him for each church of our Lord who continually supports us economically and remembers us in prayer. You are in our hearts and prayers. May He continue to bless you with His presence.

Wholly Christ’s,
Andres Galaviz and family

P.S. The situation here in the state of Chihuahua continues to be insecure. The government continues to struggle battling the drug cartels. The drug cartels are also fighting among themselves for territory. So we are caught in the middle casting ourselves upon God’s provision and protection. Again we can say our God is so good.
