Missionary Calvin Gardner Update
Dearest Faithful Prayer Warriors,
Thank you for your part in seeking the Lord’s fruit upon this missionary family’s ministries. We do not think ourselves worthy to be in the work of the Gospel, but for sure we are thankful to be enabled to do so. Thank you for your request unto the Lord to give us grace to faithfully minister Christ. You surely share in the fruit He gives.
The brethren of the church here in Presidente Prudente put together the Thursday night two-hour radio program themselves. David gave them pointers and the various pre-recorded announcement clips they would need, but the brethren put it together without our presence. There were sections for Bible Reading, listening to hymns, prayer, advertisement and three messages from God’s Word. It is a blessing to see the brethren taking responsibility for this portion of outreach.
Tuesday morning a local Convention Baptist pastor came by to talk. Sometimes a pastor just needs someone to talk to. About as soon as his visit ended a pastor from São Paulo called. This pastor is supplying me with books from William Carey Taylor to put on my website. That same afternoon I received a notice that Pastor Israel from Ourinhos and Bro. Marcos from Ribeirão Claro would be coming by to visit on Thursday afternoon. We also received word that Dr. Felix Racy and two men from his work in Marilia would come by next week. We thank the Lord we can have such fellowship and we seek your prayers that we may be a blessing to these men who minister the Gospel.
For our Friday night service in Rancharia I expected the cold rainy weather to scare off most of our regular visitors. Happily, there were two visitors who blessed us with their presence making a total nine present. Bro. Jonas has found a job in the city and found a house to rent as well. Therefore he will be a regular presence if the Lord is willing. I still think he is walking with his head in the clouds for Ana’s sake, but we pray the Lord will keep them both by His grace and bring all to His glory.
This week the Lord blessed with more studies uploaded to the website. Some time ago Bro. Albano translated Bro. L. A. Justice’s booklet about Democratic Church Government into Portuguese. After we found that we had not finished its review, David got right on it. He finished the reviewing of it this week. Thankfully it is now posted online and we pray it will be consulted for the edification of many. This is the second week we have been enabled to post new material.
Talking about forgetting something, I found that I never put the pictures up of the special service we had in our new home this last March. They are here now: http://www.palavraprudente.com.br/usablog/
As neither Daniel nor David were readily available to move the fifty-pound propane bottle to Peggy’s dryer, I man-handled it to the desired place Friday afternoon. I now sit with my low-back region in pain. Sigh. When will I ever learn?
Thank you again for praying for us! The Lord is meeting our financial needs through your giving and making our way prosperous through your prayers. May God give us all fruit unto His glory through it all.
Yours in Our Lord,
Bro. Calvin G. Gardner
