Misssionary Dan Roten Update
Missionary:
Dan Roten
Date of Report:
Friday, May 28, 2010 Dear Praying Friends,
We appreciate your support and prayers for us during this transition time in our ministry. I am in McAllen working on things here. Janet and our son Daniel are making a trip to Oregon to visit her brother who is in declining health, and whom she will probably never see again. Please pray for safety and blessing on their witness during this trip.
In Chile, today Bro. Andres was fired from his job. His agnostic boss was accustomed to practicing fraud and bribes in shady business deals. Andres had taken a firm stand against these things, and refused to participate in them. As a consequence, the boss was looking for any excuse to dismiss Andres. Andres was scheduled to return to work from a doctor-ordered medical leave, and the boss took advantage to claim that the leave was unjustified, and fired Andres. By phone Andres and I read 1 Peter 4:12-19 together. "Think it not strange...but rejoice...if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed..." Pray for Andres and Fabiola, that the Lord will quickly give him a new job, and bless him for his faithfulness, and willingness to seek first the kingdom of God.
Pray also for Oliver and Viviana (in Concepción), that he will soon have full-time, adequate work to support his family. They have had their needs supplied, but life has been a trial for them since the earthquake. It is marvelous to see that the trials have produced positive growth in their walk with the Lord during this time.
Eduardo, in Cardenas, Mexico asked us to pray for him and Micaela as they are trying to adopt a baby. They are just beginning a long and complicated adoption process. I will be ordering a new set of hymnals to send down, to replace the hymnals that were lost when the church house was taken over by criminals. Please keep praying that the Lord will move upon one of the preacher brethren who are preaching there on a regular basis to relocate and remain as full-time pastor or missionary with them.
Grace and Peace,
Bro. Danny G. Roten
