MISSIONARY CALVIN GARDNER UPDATE
Missionary:
Calvin Gardner
Date of Report:

Dear Praying Brethren,
Greetings in Our Faithful Lord!
I thank each one who wrote me a note, gave helpful advice, and assured me of your prayers for that health problem with my sciatic nerve. When I wrote you about it last week I thought I was all better. Guess what? I was not recovered. It is true I am much better, but I have been spending a good amount of time on the dear mattress in my office. For some reason, that works wonders. I improved enough to travel to Rancharia on Wednesday evening which was a blessing.
In Rancharia the Lord has blessed with a widow and her daughter coming to the services there and I think the infant preaching point does need my attention. So, I was really glad to be able to go. Bro. Marcelo has been wanting to go to help in the work there, so he and his family went this Lord’s Day morning. I will be going to Bataguassu this evening Lord willing. It is good to not have to travel to both cities as traveling seems to provoke a return of pain. UPDATE: Bro. Marcelo just called and asked to go to Bataguassu tonight. That was providential. Now I can stay in town tonight as well.
My son Daniel is in Ourinhos since yesterday. He is busy with his ministry of filming fundamental Baptist preaching so he can put these videos online. The Good Hope Baptist Church invited him to film three services for this ministry. We are blessed and happy that he desires to use his talents to serve the Lord. The website, vede.com.br, is getting about a hundred visitors a day already so we understand it is meeting a need. Not only do these videos serve those who have no church to attend, pastors can be preached to as well. In any case, truth will have its God-honoring effect.
And that is pretty much our week. While sitting or lying down in my office I could handle my e-mail correspondence, review some translations and take phone calls, but other than that, I did not get out to make any visits. However, newly baptized Sarah came over for a special birthday meal that Joy and Charity prepared for her. That was a blessing. Before she left we did have a Bible lesson with her. As you remember please pray for her. Her parents have moved south where there is no sound church to attend and this concerns her greatly as she must move with them.
Peggy reminds me that I did have a distraught brother come by Tuesday morning for a visit and that I also got out to administer a test for the seminary-level classes here in Presidente Prudente on Saturday. I guess I got more done this week than I had thought. Thank the Lord for His mercy to use us! And I thank Him for my blessed wife!
Yours in Our Lord,
Bro. Calvin G. Gardner
