July 2009 Report
Dear Pastor and Brethren:
New Jail
I’ve been reporting for some time now that the Payne County Jail System was building a new jail. As of this month, the new jail is now open and ready for service. It will house 288 prisoners whereas the old jail housed only about 70 or 80 inmates. Roxanne and I had to go to a three hour orientation and training class to become familiar with the new protocols and procedures of the new jail system. We will be considered as volunteer staff and will be issued tags to wear during our visit. With more capacity, the jail population will probably increase and there will probably be an increase in the Latino population as well.

Under the new rules, I can no longer enter a pod by myself but have to take another man with me. This is due to the fact that inside the pod there is nothing separating us from all the prisoners. Well, at this time there is no other man who speaks Spanish to go in with me. However, one of the English speaking men has volunteered to accompany me, and he tries to talk to English speaking men while I work with the Spanish speaking men. How long this arrangement will last is uncertain because if the English speaking man has no one to talk to it becomes quite boring for him to wait for me. We have to stay within an area restricted by a black and yellow line. The inmates are supposed to stay outside of the restricted area but there are tables with chairs close enough together for us to sit down and talk on either side of the line. The new procedures will require some adjustments on our part, but we believe that we will be able to continue to have services with Latinos in the new jail. Please pray for this ministry!

Persons Needing Prayer
Rocio, Raquel and Rigoberto, Esmeralda and Baltazar, Rodrigo and Amelia, are young couples outside of the jail ministry to whom we have given gospel literature and Bibles and with whom we have an influence. They are lost in sin and need the Lord and His great salvation. Rocio is Victor’s (jail) girlfriend and seems to be responding positively to Victor’s and our testimony to her. I have given Bibles and tracts to four other men in the jail, but they have been deported. Please pray for us and this ministry - fervently!

A Personal Note
Roxanne and I say, “Thank You!” to all who sent birthday cards for Roxanne’s birthday and anniversary cards for our thirty-sixth wedding anniversary. We received many cards expressing the desire for the Lord’s blessings upon us, and we are grateful!
Our son Nathan is scheduled for disk replacement surgery in his neck on August 18, at one o’clock. We would appreciate your prayers for a successful operation on his behalf.

By His grace and in gratitude,

Tim & Roxanne Parrow
