Dear Friends, January 13, 2012

We send you greetings for the New Year. We are facing what may turn out to be a year of many changes both in Mexico and internationally. Mexico’s presidential election in July and the November election in the USA may be a crucial turning point for both nations. We have some close ties (providentially via church members) to the Mexican presidential candidate who is leading the polls.

Dear Friends,

Many of you know that Luke and Carolyn were involved in an accident a few weeks ago. A drunk driver (a young fellow with no insurance or license) plowed into four cars that were stopped at a traffic light. Thankfully Luke and Carolyn suffered only minor injuries. Mexican law places blame on all those involved until a judge determine otherwise.

Dear Friends, Sept. 13, 2011

We have been enjoying good services and some good evangelistic opportunities. There is a new weeknight Bible study in the south part of the City. I am teaching in four different studies during the week as well as a Saturday ‘Mini-Institute’ and regular Sunday preaching.
I continue traveling three times each month to give the Institute studies in Guatemala, Nicaragua and now in Mérida. We hope to make some changes early in 2012 that will permit us to delegate some of the Institute responsibilities to other men.

Dear Friends, May 10, 2011

The Lord gave us a good conference during ‘Semana Santa’ in Merida. The attendance was well over 100 each day. Folks came from Cancun, Playa del Carmen, Tizimin, Valladolid, Campeche, Tabasco and Veracruz. I was not informed that I would be the only speaker until the night before the trip. I ended up speaking 8 times on the Doctrines of Grace and then preaching for the church anniversary on Sunday in Tizimin. The attendance in Tizimin was a little over 200. It was good to be with many old friends, most of whom I had not seen since 2005.

Dear Friends, March 10, 2011

Lissa underwent successful surgery on February 15th. The doctors found no malignancy and were pleased with the results. She was able to attend services with us for the first time last Sunday. If there are no complications, she will have her final checkup and medical release next week. We are thankful for many answered payers and providential help during this time.

Dear Friends, January 12, 2011
We send you greetings for the New Year. Last year was a time of growth and advance in our mission work. I traveled once a month to Nicaragua to give the studies for our Pastor’s Institute. In spite of much opposition, we have seen some progress. We were able to see a mission established in Managua and are exploring some options for a possible radio outreach there. We are near the mid-point of the three-year course of Institute studies.

Dear Friends, November 11, 2010

Our monthly travels to Central America continued in September and October. I had two good trips to Nicaragua. We are trying to lay a doctrinal foundation that will help these men to put their congregations in biblical order. We continue to receive reports that a number of the “Baptist” churches are being taken over by the charismatic movement ... or by liberation theology. As strange as it may sound, some of these churches are openly supporting Daniel Ortega and the Sandinistas.

Dear Friends, September 8, 2010

We arrived back in Mexico City on the 19th of July. That was just in time for our daughter Carolyn to finish the registration process at the UNAM. Except for a delay at the border, we made the trip without any problems. There were some shoot-outs and roads blocked in Laredo over that weekend... but we got out of town without seeing anything unusual. The main toll road to Monterrey was open with no obstacles or detours. Many bridges and highways had been closed due to severe flooding and the hurricane that devastated the border area.

Dear Friends, July 13, 2010

We are presently in the last week of a short trip to the USA. We are scheduled to return to Mexico on Monday, July 19th. Right now some of the main highways and bridges into Mexico are closed due to the recent tropical storm that left most of Laredo, TX, under water. We are considering our options for crossing at another location, if the situation in Laredo does not improve in the next few days. The main roads from Laredo to Monterrey are also closed, so this makes the trip to Mexico City more difficult. The security situation along the Mexico-USA border is not good. The flooding and road closures have made things more complicated.

Dear Friends, May 11, 2010

We still have a number of folks dealing with trials and illness. We are thankful that Pastor German is recovered from his surgery. Our neighbor Paco, (who has worked diligently with the Spurgeon audio sermon project) will finally have his heart surgery this week. The doctors are now talking about changing up to 3 valves, so this will be a high-risk operation. We were able to raise the initial money for this from our Mexican churches and missions.
