Dear Praying Friends,

I am grateful to God for the faithful band of brethren who pray for us and give that we might labor among the Spanish-speaking peoples. Thank you, brethren!

First, the trip to the M. D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston was blessed of the Lord, and we received a very good report there.

Dear Praying Friends,

We must unite our voice to that of the apostle Paul, and many missionaries to state that we thank our God upon every remembrance of you. The Lord has given us a great and faithful band in our home church, supporting churches, friends and prayer warriors who constantly hold us up before the Lord. Thank you. Daily we are mindful of the fact that you are colaborers together with us, and that your support enables us to work as we do.

Dear Praying Friends,

We thank the Lord that we have seen good progress in our move to our new field of service. The last couple of months have been exhausting. We had our last big garage sale in McAllen, did our final packing, loaded the rental truck and moved our belongings into storage in Oklahoma City.

Dear Praying Friends,

I will begin with medical updates, and the simplest first.

Healing for Daniel's hand has been outstanding. The doctor says that his progress has been excellent, and the therapist says that his recovery was much faster than most. He has finished with the therapist, and should have only one more visit to the doctor before he is released.

The medical concerns for myself that I mentioned in the last email are still in progress. I will see a specialist tomorrow with results of all the labs. And also I have referrals to two other doctors soon.

Dear Praying Friends,

Greetings. We are grateful for your prayers, and have seen some answers, for which we thank the Lord.

Daniel had the surgery on his hand as scheduled, and the doctor's report following the surgery was that the surgery and placement of the titanium plate and 6 screws was absolutely perfect. He has already been to the physical therapist 3 times, and is progressing well. Without this therapy, he would have had a reduced range of motion, but he is seeing improvement with each session.

Dear Praying Friends,

We give thanks to God always for you all, making mention of you in our prayers. Like the faithful Philippians, you have sent once and again unto our needs. Thank you! You have been fellowhelpers to the truth.

The process of our transition from Mexico to Chile has taken much longer than I ever anticipated. That has meant frustration both for me and for Andres (in Chile), but every delay has come about in a very providential manner.

Dear Praying Friends,

Again, we thank the Lord for your faithfulness toward us during this time of transition. It is exciting to be getting closer to the Lord's appointed day when we can make the big move, and the brethren in Chile express the same sentiment. At this point we are still waiting on paperwork to come through, and still finishing up at the house. Although we have had some battles with sickness, we have made good progress packing. After Thanksgiving and doctors visits in Oklahoma City, Janet and the boys will continue working on the house in McAllen. I am leaving tomorrow for a month of visiting among our supporting churches. Deputation for Chile has sure been an encouragement, getting back among the churches and pastors in the US. Please pray for my safety as I will be driving in winter weather.

Dear Brethren,

We thank the Lord for each of you and the faithful support that you give us in your prayers, friendship, fellowship, encouragement, and finances. The Lord, and you His children have been faithful to us in an abundant way through the years of our labors in the mission field, and through times of sickness and trial. This is the hardest kind of letter for me to write. There are some specific financial needs to be met, if we are to be able to move to Chile and begin working in that field. I have worked, prayed and revised long hours to come up with the figures that I report to you below. There you will see an estimate that I have tried to put together. I have tried to be thorough, yet keep it to a minimum. There will most definitely be other unforeseen expenses. We are planning to ship a 20' container to the field with as many of our possessions as we are able to fit in. If in the end, significant pieces of furniture do not fit, then the house furnishings need will increase.

Dear Praying Friends,

Thanks so much for your faithful prayers and support for our move into the Lord's work in Chile. These are eventful days. As we pack we are living in the middle of boxes stacked in every room. The garage is stacked to the ceiling with items for our upcoming super-garage sale. I have been corresponding and conversing with a customs broker, and today spent an hour on the phone with the shipping agency that we will probably be using. Things tentatively look like the total shipping cost for our container will be around $8,500.00, which of course is subject to change until contracts are finalized. There will still be other expenses for the purchase of several items once we arrive like a couple of beds, a stove and refrigerator, a washing machine and several other items. And then there will be a vehicle too. Plus airfare. I thank the Lord for the offerings that have been given already to offset these expenses, but more is still needed. I will soon be sending a letter to pastors with more details concerning specific needs.
