The Sermon Distribution Ministry's first and foremost purpose is to glorify Jesus Christ. The Lord has ordained his word, through preachers, that men, women, and children might come to know him, as well as be forgiven of their sins. Matthew 28:18-20 - And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen. We record the sermons each Sunday and then duplicate them. These discs are given free to any who request them. More Details
In 2005 the church began broadcasting the Sunday services live on the Internet in both video and audio formats. Since 2004, audio files of the sermons have been available for downloading from the church’s WEB site. We feel that it may be time to discontinue distributing cassette tapes and switch to one of the other formats. However, if there remains a need to distribute cassette tapes, we will continue doing so.
For those who are able to listen to the live sermon broadcasts or download the sermons, we encourage you to do so in lieu of receiving the cassettes, CDs, or DVDs.
The church now has the equipment to reproduce and distribute audio and video recordings of the sermons on CD and DVD. There are several formats that are available; CD-audio, Windows Media Audio Format on CD, and video on DVD.
This is the most common format used and can be played in any CD or DVD player. Each CD will contain only one sermon; therefore, eight CDs will be required for the sermons for a month.
This is the compressed audio format developed by Microsoft. A CD that contains sermon files in the wma format must be played on a compatible CD or DVD player. Most audio CD players are not capable of playing this format. Typically a personal computer is used to play wma files. Each CD can contain several months of sermon files. This is the format of the audio files that are available on the church’s WEB site.
To ensure that the freely distributed sermon tapes, CDs, or DVDs are actually being used, we ask that you indicate your desire to receiving the sermons for the next 12 months by January 31, 2008. You may notify us by returning the enclosed form (on reverse side) by mail, send an email (sermon_request@sherwoodbaptist.com), or by calling the church at 405-685-7333.
